David Cohen

Reed Smith

A graduate of Harvard Law School, David Cohen has more than 30 years of litigation experience, representing Fortune 500 companies as well as many smaller businesses and institutions.  He leads the 80+ lawyer Records & E-Discovery (RED) Practice Group at the international law firm Reed Smith, serves as e-discovery counsel to multiple companies and has been appointed as an E-Discovery Special Master by several judges. 

Mr. Cohen serves on the Advisory Board of the Georgetown Advanced E-Discovery Institute, is active in the Sedona Conference WG1 and WG6, and Chairs the Board of Project Trustees of EDRM, were he also leads the GDPR Committee.  He frequently presents nationally and internationally and has authored articles and book chapters on e-discovery, cross-border issues, information governance, legal ethics, and litigation strategy.  He is recognized in the field of e-discovery by Superlawyers, Chambers International, and Who’s Who Legal.  In 2020 Mr. Cohen was honored by the Legal Intelligencer as a legal “Trailblazer” for leading development of the E-Discovery App, and other legal innovations.
